SUMMER Group Lessons & Specialized Clinics

Gear up for the epic adventure of Group Lessons and Specialized Clinics. Connect with your coach in a pre-lesson chat, setting the stage for a positive experience. Receive on-the-spot feedback, and see yourself in action through video and photo analysis. A personalized lesson recap, loaded with extra tips, keeps you at the top of your game. Stay in constant touch with your MTB Coach via text/call, ensuring you're always in the loop. Master your fundamental skills and build onto your skills to advance your technical riding. This isn't just a lesson; it's a bold group of riders craving community and building up mountain bike skills to achieve their goals.

Booking Explanation When you book through the booking Jane app, you'll be directed to the first date of the 4-week lessons. You'll then fill out the rider waiver form and complete the payment. I will be notified and will manually book the remaining lessons under your account before your first class.

Group of Mountain Bikers

Intermediate Co-ed
Aug 6-22

We focus on levelling up and refining foundational skills and able to ride blue trails and black trails

  • ​Experience a Co-Ed 2-hour lesson twice a week for three weeks; August 6, 8, 13, 15, 20, & 22

  • Tuesday's & Thursday's 6:15-8:15pm

  • First & Second week: Smith Creek Trails

  • Third week: Gillard (Shuttle Service is included)

  • Specific for Intermediate, Intermediate Plus, and Advanced Riders

  • Up to 6 participants ages 18+ (Co-ed)

  • What you'll learn:

  • Advance Bike Handling Skills

  • Brake & Pressure Control at High & Low Speeds

  • Climb and Descend with Efficiency and Smoothness 

  • Technical Cornering Techniques 

  • Terrain Awareness

  • Overcoming Large Obstacles 

  • Foundations on Jumps & Drops

Beginner Female
August 12-21

We focus on foundational skills in a controlled environment and ride green trails and some blue trails

  • Experience a Female Only, 2-hour lesson twice a week for two weeks; August 12, 14, 19, & 21 

  • Monday's & Wednesday's 6:15-8:15pm

  • Location: Smith Creek Trails

  • Specific for Beginner and Beginner Plus Riders

  • Up to 6 participants ages 18+ (Female)

  • Bike Handling and Safety 

  • Brake Control

  • Climb and Descend with Efficiency and Smoothness

Smith Creek Race Prep Aug 24 & Sep 7

Learn, support, and prepare for the Smith Creek Chainless Race on September 22, hosted by Mike Kirk!

This race prep is a
5 hour clinic where we will learn and dial in mountain bike skills to prep for your race with Vanessa Hair.

 
In addition to the session, we will meet with Zach Hair, RCC (Registered Clinical Counsellor) on the trails to discuss strategies for mental preparation for the race.
 
Core emotions are essential: if we don't block them, their innate programming provides us with crucial information to help us thrive in our thoughts while riding.  

And if you are not racing, still join the fun!

BoldKids Program

Parents, take time for yourself! Invest in the 4 week kids program for ages 9-13. The focus will be FUN, SAFETY, and EXPLORATION. The program runs from July 8-29

This adventure-filled experience unfolds in the evening once a week on Monday's from 5:45-7:45pm at Smith Creek Trails in West Kelowna. Get your kids outside to explore their riding potential and experience nature during these action-packed sessions!

What your kids will learn:

Bike handling 

Bike and trail safety

How/when/why:

Braking

Cornering

Gearing

Climbing

Descending 

And of course intertwine games!

Bike Equipment:

Well-fitted and quality helmets. Gloves, knee and elbow pads are mandatory. Kids will carry their own water, snacks, and spare clothes (weather dependent). Extra water and snacks will be at the trail head lot.

 

It is required that mountain bikes are in good working condition and fitted properly. The bike ideally needs to have disc brakes, quality, gearing and mountain bike tires with tread.

What Defines a Beginner and Beginner Plus Rider? 

What Defines an Intermediate and Intermediate Plus Rider?

Beginner: You’re new to cycling! You can ride the bike on very basic gravel roads or wide trails. You can operate the bike and want to learn more foundations of cycling to be a confident rider.

Beginner PLUS: You maintain a comfortable and sturdy stance on descents, climbs, and cornering. You do not have the confidence to navigate roots, rocks, and tight turns. You want to learn how to flow through trails will ease and confidence

What Defines an Advanced and Advanced Plus Rider?

Advanced: You are comfortable and confident at high speeds in technical terrain. Your cornering skills are excellent, and you can easily ride the apex of berms. You are skilled and confident at navigating a variety of technical features such as roots, rocks, mud, sand, and creek crossings. You are very skilled at shifting your weight to navigate technical climbs, descents and all trail features. You can bunny hop over obstacles and are confident to handle smaller jumps and drops.

Advanced PLUS: You are very advanced in all areas of mountain biking. You have significant and strong skills in the areas of shifting, braking, speed control, cornering, climbing and descending. You can comfortably navigate all terrain at high speeds. You’re not afraid of jumps and drops and can easily manage transitions.

Intermediate: You are continuously learning the art of shifting, but understand easy and hard shifting through the gears. You have the skills to brake appropriately on descents and you are confident to ride through a variety of technical features (roots, rocks, tight turns) although you are most comfortable at a slow and controlled pace. You have a desire to build on your current skill set.

Intermediate PLUS: You have a strong understanding and practice with the skills of braking, shifting, cornering and descending. You are able to navigate variable terrain at a good pace. You are confident and comfortable riding singletrack trails and can easily navigate roots, rocks, mud, sand and creek crossings. You are capable of a front wheel and rear wheel lift and can put the two together to navigate over obstacles. You are fairly confident on steep climbs and descents, but you may walk sections on trails that are rated Black or Double Black.
